Wellness Precautions
In order to promote community wellness and limit exposure to COVID and other contagious diseases:
Based on current local guidance from the California Department of Public Health we will not be requiring any individual in our community (e.g. preschool students and staff, children in onsite childcare, parents and members, student interns, guests) to wear a mask (regardless of vaccination status)
Parents, staff, and coworking members are required to do daily symptom screenings before arriving onsite to ensure adults and children do not unintentionally come to school sick. For any student displaying signs or symptoms of illness, staff will check temperatures with a contactless thermometer and anyone who has a reading of above 100 degrees or has other symptoms (mucus/runny nose, cough, elevated temperature, headache, diarrhea, nausea, lethargy, etc.) will not be permitted to stay onsite and will notify parents to come pick them up and follow these CDC recommendations.
Staff and students will continue the practice of frequent hand washing throughout the day and use hand sanitizer when necessary. Our staff will also continue to wear gloves when serving food to students.
Onsite guests and prospective members must pre-schedule private tours and wash their hands upon arrival when onsite. They should not come onsite if they have any symptoms and must reschedule their visit for at least 5 days later and be symptom-free for at least 24 hours before coming onsite.
Our general Wellness Policy will also remain in effect and we ask all parents to be even more mindful of symptoms in children and yourselves. Anyone with an active cough will be asked to leave.
Any person with COVID or flu-like symptoms will be required to stay offsite for at least 5 days or until they receive a Physician’s Approval to return or have a negative test result (test must occur on day 5 or later).
RESPONSE TO EXPOSURE
We have updated our approach and policies related to COVID based on the updated guidance released from the California Department of Public Health on August 29, 2023:
STAFF OR CHILD WITH SYMPTOMS
Individuals with symptoms of illness should stay home and test for COVID-19:
If you test negative, you may return if at least 24 hours have passed since you have been fever-free and you do not have other symptoms.
If you test positive, please stay at home for 5 days. Isolation can end after Day 5 if symptoms are not present and the individual has been fever-free for at least 24 hours (without the use of fever-reducing medication).
If you are unable to test or choose not to test, isolation can end after Day 5. You must be symptom-free for 24 hours to return.
SCHOOL EXPOSURE
Parents and caregivers will be notified of the potential direct exposure. The child may continue to attend preschool/childcare as long as they do not develop symptoms of illness. Any exposed individual should test 3-5 days after the exposure, including staff and students based on CDPH guidelines.
EXTERNAL EXPOSURE
If you have potential or known exposure outside of our space and test negative, you may continue to come onsite as long as your are symptom-free. CDPH recommends retesting Day 3-5 after the initial exposure. If you are unable to test or choose not to test, you will need to stay home at least 5 days to quarantine. Then if symptoms are not present, quarantine can end after Day 5.
CONTINUOUS HOUSEHOLD EXPOSURE
When continuous exposure is present (e.g. living with someone who has tested positive for COVID) and you are able to quarantine during the other individual’s isolation period, you are able to come onsite as long as you are symptom-free and have tested negative.
INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE TESTED POSITIVE FOR COVID IN THE PAST 90 DAYS
Asymptomatic individuals that have tested positive for COVID within the past 90 days are not required to quarantine or test for COVID in response to a new exposure. However, if an individual develops new symptoms after being exposed to COVID, they should quarantine and test following the above protocol.
For information on symptoms and contagious diseases that are not COVID-related, please review our Community Wellness Policy.
COVID Policies
Per our enrollment policies, we cannot allow make-up days nor do we offer tuition reimbursement when a child misses a regularly scheduled school day due to illness, family holiday, unplanned school closure (including health and safety quarantine periods or forced government closure, or inclement weather), or any other reason.
We realize that unexpected closures are not only inconvenient, but also may cost your family additional childcare fees. Please reach out to our Leadership Team if your family has a significant financial need resulting from an unplanned closure and we will do our best to support you where we can.
If you have any questions, please reach out to our Leadership Team. Thank you for your support in ensuring our community stays healthy and safe!
